1848 Stanley Dock to Open in Historic Liverpool Pumphouse

A new 120-seat pizzeria is set to open within the historic Victorian pumphouse at Liverpool’s Stanley Dock this winter following a £1.5 million transformation.

1848 Stanley Dock

Named 1848 Stanley Dock, in reference to the year Jesse Hartley’s Stanley Dock officially opened, the restaurant will occupy the Grade II-listed Hydraulic Pumphouse and Accumulator Tower.

The name has been revealed to coincide with World Architecture Day on 5 October.

Operated by Titanic Hotel Liverpool and owned by Harcourt Developments, the 4,400 sq ft restaurant will combine the original Victorian structure with new dining and hospitality spaces.

A glass-walled extension with ceilings reaching 18.5 ft will overlook the dock, with glazed doors opening onto a waterfront dining terrace.

Connecting the extension to the original brick boiler room will be a 23 ft-high atrium providing space for dining and a cocktail bar.

A new galleried mezzanine will provide additional seating, with feature brickwork retained on the lower level and a private dining and lounge area created above.
