Steven Wright Crowned NACC Care Chef of the Year 2026
Steven Wright, Group Executive Chef at Caring Homes, has been crowned the National Association of Care Catering’s Care Chef of the Year 2026.

Wright received the title on Wednesday 14 October at a prize-giving ceremony held as part of the NACC Training & Development Forum, following the competition final at Loughborough College.
Tristan Welch of KYN finished second, while Darren Nelson of Trymview Hall, Care UK, secured third place.
A total of 12 finalists competed, with the judging panel including 2025 winner Ilona Tomza of Porthaven Care Homes.
Judges assessed competitors on their nutritional understanding, flavours, menu balance, presentation, waste management and hygiene practices.
The finalists were challenged to prepare a nutritionally balanced two-course menu in 90 minutes suitable for people receiving care.
The combined food cost of the main course and dessert could not exceed £4.50 per head, based on three portions.
Wright’s winning main course was Tandoori-spiced cod with Bombay fondant potato, sautéed Indian-style spinach, crisp cauliflower bhaji beignet, curried cauliflower purée, pickled cauliflower, mango chutney and coriander oil, finished with micro coriander.
